Privacy notice.
Plain information about what HEB collects, why it is used and the choices available to you.
Who is responsible
Until a limited company takes over the project, the data controller is Scott Borrows, operating HEB - Find Your Way. Contact: shopsgalore1990@gmail.com.
Business applications
When somebody applies for a listing, HEB receives the business details, public contact details, links, description, opening hours, logo and photographs they choose to supply. HEB also collects a private contact name and email, and an optional private telephone number, so the application can be checked and managed.
The private application contact is not published. Information clearly marked as public may be displayed on the map after approval. Nothing is published automatically.
For a listing update, HEB also records the applicant’s signed-in email and account identifier, the current and proposed details, any replacement images, and the review decision. These private records let HEB verify requests and approve changes to the existing listing. Signing in does not publish an update automatically.
Why the information is used
HEB uses application information to consider, create, maintain and, when requested, remove business listings; contact applicants about their listing; prevent misuse; and operate the local business directory. This processing is necessary to take steps requested by applicants and for HEB's legitimate interests in running an accurate, useful directory. HEB does not use an application as permission to send unrelated marketing.
Images and information about other people
Applicants must be authorised to submit the listing and must have permission to supply its wording and images. Please do not upload photographs of identifiable people unless they have agreed to the intended public use.
Find Me location
Find Me operates only after the visitor presses the button and allows location access in their browser. The coordinates are used on the visitor's device to place the “You are here” marker. HEB does not send those coordinates to its server or retain a location history. The visitor can stop location permission through their browser settings.
Anonymous usage statistics
HEB records limited events such as page views, selected streets, viewed businesses and whether search is used. Search words are not retained. A random identifier exists only in memory while the page is open and is not stored in cookies, local storage or session storage. The statistics are used to understand and improve the map and are normally deleted after 12 months.
Cookies and device storage
HEB does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. The map may use essential browser caching so that the installable app can load reliably and work offline. This cache does not build an advertising profile.
Who receives the information
Application records and uploads are stored using the services that host and operate the HEB site. Access to the private applications area is restricted to the authorised HEB administrator. Approved public listing information is visible to map visitors. HEB does not sell personal information.
How long information is kept
Approved listing information is normally kept while the listing remains active. Unsuccessful, withdrawn or superseded applications and their private contact information are reviewed and deleted when no longer needed, normally within 12 months. Some information may be kept longer where reasonably required to resolve a dispute, meet a legal obligation or maintain an accurate record of a current listing.
Your rights
You may ask for a copy of your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, restriction or objection to its use, or deletion where the law provides that right. You may also ask HEB to remove or update a listing. Email shopsgalore1990@gmail.com. If you remain unhappy, you may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this notice
This notice will be updated if responsibility for HEB transfers to a limited company or if the way information is used materially changes.
